HANDLING & STORAGE
MOISTURE
X-Trim is protected with 2 coats of Tapel Willamette Primer that minimizes moisture problems. For best performance X-Trim must be stored and installed in dry normal conditions to prevent swelling and/or shrinkage differences between faces caused by moisture.
STORAGE
X-Trim must be stored off the ground, well supported and securely covered, in a covered building and out of the weather. Make sure the cover is of breathable weather resistant material, secure, but loose enough to permit air circulation in order to avoid condensing moisture in stack. For best results, let wood products reach equilibrium with the local climate by storing them at least fifteen days in a well-ventilated shelter prior installation.
X-Trim must be stored away from direct sunlight and extreme heat or cold conditions. Do not let the Boards get wet or dirty. When storing the Boards near the ground, place plastic cover over soil to minimize moisture absorption.
PAINTING
X-Trim is not intended to be used as a finish coat product. Finish coats should be applied within 90 days of installation. The primed surface should be clean and dry prior to finishing. For best results Tapel Willamette Inc. S.A. recommends the use of 2 coats of water base latex type products, acrylics, vinyl acrylics, and styrene acrylics as top coat, since their high resistance and durability provide excellent, lasting coating results. Do not thin paints! Finish coats should provide a minimum of 3 dry mils (1.5 dry mils per coat) and should be applied to a clean surface in, warm, dry weather, not below 50 degrees, and not above 90 degrees Fahrenheit. For topcoat application, traditional methods such as brush, roller, gun, etc can be used. If thicker coats are to be applied, previous sandpapering is recommended
